What Inspired You To Become a Surrogate?:
Seeing my friend be a surrogate
What Is Your Favourite Memory From Your Surrogacy Journey(s)?:
My intended parents lived far away from me, so they couldn’t be present for the 20 week ultrasound. I found out that they were having a girl, so I got a big box and filled it with pink balloons. I then made a recording of my kids opening the box to reveal the gender. It was so much fun doing that gender reveal for them 🙂
What Is One Piece of Advice You’d Give Someone Considering Becoming a Surrogate?:
It’s an incredible experience, so if you are thinking about doing it, just take the next step
Tell us your surrogacy story:
Doing a sibling journey was different than working with first time parents. As a former surrogate, I had already been through the process and as parents themselves the IP’s had already been through the process. And since I carried their first child, we had already been through the process together and gotten to know each other pretty well.
So although the sibling journey tended to have less communication back-and-forth throughout the pregnancy, it was comfortable and it was reassuring because although the dads were busy experiencing all of the first times with their first baby I knew I could count on them to be supportive because they’ve already been through the journey once before and understood what was required and the support that was needed. There wasn’t as many check-ins, there wasn’t a visit at the 20 week mark, but it was still an incredible journey and one that I will remember forever.
To be able to complete a family is just as rewarding as being able to start a family.
